National Service

So... Lindiwe is proposing National Service again... but it will be voluntary. Am I being stupid, but isn't that the current system?
“We would like to have a period in which we take your children and give them a bit of discipline."
But it will be voluntary?
I am confused (easy to do I know)

And as an aside.... I am surprised none of you boys have raised the big news of the day and highlighted the murder of Lolly Jackson yet

Ah - I am not the only one who is confused:

Dude we are always confused by the ANC.

Us boys are sensitive to the femimist agendas out there on the interwebs. At least I am. And by sensitive to I mean scared of.

I told Phil to write an obituary for Lolly, but he has not obliged. Surely South Africas greatest philanthropist and entrepreneur? Saving all those beautiful eastern european women from a life of cleaning floors and waiting tables.
RIP

Heard today that the military thing is not the same as the existing, voluntary military service. National service will apparently be more about life skills and using military infrastructure for training and further education (like construction, health, etc.). No pressure to go on to become a member of the SANDF.

If they can fund this new thing it sounds pretty good to me.

It sounds good if they actually succeed in instilling discipline and a sense of purpose. There is always the chance that individual rights will come into play and trump the disciplinary process. This has already started with the army going on strike. This could mean the failure in instilling order and in the end the disenfranchised youth only learn how to wield guns more effectively.

Just a thought.
