Ya except does no-one else feel like the good vibes flag gees is one small step removed from unhealthy patriotism and that phobia who shall not be named?

Also, I've only ever seen vigorous flag-flying displays of 'national pride' (read nationalism) in the crappy countries, and their equivalent regions in rich countries. E.g. southern USA.

Ja, i guess i would like the focus to be on offering ourselves the same high standards that were offered the tourists, but I'm not too offended by the flag focus. Considering that this whole campaign was almost certainly created by ad 'creatives' and not govt officials, and the fact that the main thrust of the campaign seems to be maintaining the momentum of national unity, i dont think there is anything dangerous in it.

The fact that there is even a campaign trying to keep the spirit alive is comforting. The fact that it's a bit misdirected is what happens when marketing is running the company - as you like to say.
